SANDERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) — A $70 million plant that would produce personal protective equipment and create nearly 300 jobs could be coming to central Georgia.

The Sandersville City Council is expected to consider a deal Monday for a facility that would manufacture products including disposable gloves, WMAZ-TV reports.

A proposed agreement says Washington County’s development authority would own the 200,000-square-foot site and lease it to Redstone Investments Group.

G. William Curtis told the station that his company is developing the project on behalf of Shield Technology, which is run by three Georgia women.

The development authority would provide more than $1 million in incentives, including $300,000 in grants to help with site costs and assistance with building a rail spur that would serve the plant. WMAZ reports that the county would also reduce property taxes for the first 15 years.

The agreement says Redstone and the county hope to close on the project by May, begin construction in 2022 and open the site sometime in 2023. The company would aim to hire 150 people in the plant’s first year and 296 by the third.

Mr. Curtis told Becker’s the plant would bring about 300 jobs to the central Georgia town. He said the company will work alongside operating partner Shield Technology, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based company owned by three women.

“We’re very excited about supporting an all-women management team and ownership,” Mr. Curtis said.

Mr. Curtis said the group’s current operating company, RS Medical Supply, a Nevada company warehousing out of California, will provide oversight for the nitrile glove plant.

13WMAZ reported Dec. 2 a proposed agreement between Redstone and Washington County, Ga., officials would give ownership of the site to county’s development authorities, who would lease it to the company.

Mr. Curtis said while there are no new developments at this time, the company hopes to close on the deal by May 2022.
